Background

Since 2021, Kentucky has experienced over 4,000 homeless and the impact of opioid and alcohol abuse. According to the National Coalition of Homeless Veterans, approximately 13% of the homeless population are veterans and 70% have a substance abuse problem.

Taking Action

The Lexington Community, in partnership with The Hope Center, has created The Hope Center Veteran & Housing Initiative for three core purposes:

1) Continuing the mission of The Hope Center for those at-risk seeking shelter, transitional housing, recovery, and support services

2) Fundraising for the Hope Center's new Transitional Housing Center whcih will have a focus on serving the Veteran Community.

3) Serving the marginalized and those most vulnerable with this premier substance recovery center.
